On September 2, 2024, the Thalayattumala Farmer Interest Group (FIG) was officially established at Shasthamnada, marking a significant development in the promotion of collective farming and knowledge dissemination among local agriculturalists.
Mr. Sasidharan, Director Board Member of the Vamanapuram Farmer Producer Organization (FPO), presided over the event, highlighting the pivotal role of FIGs in strengthening farmer networks and enhancing agricultural productivity. Mr. Prasanth, representing CISSA, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of FIGs in facilitating collective decision-making, resource sharing, and the adoption of modern agricultural techniques. He encouraged farmers to utilize FIG initiatives to improve market access, secure financial support, and engage in knowledge exchange.
The formation of the Thalayattumala FIG aligns with the Vamanapuram FPC’s ongoing initiatives to empower farmers by providing access to government schemes, financial assistance, and technical support. Through collaborative efforts, the group aims to enhance agricultural sustainability and improve the livelihoods of farmers within the region.
The newly formed FIG, with the active participation of local farmers, is expected to drive innovation and strengthen community-based agriculture in Thalayattumala.
